Drawing. Right. Right. I need to post some of those, huh...
I'm really somewhat torn between using my tumblr for sketches, or using it for cool stuff, or both or? Some fellow students say they'd never dare use tumblr for art, where as other use it all the time. Granted those who use it are bigger names. I already said I dedicated my tumblr to that, so changing it makes me look bad or some such thing. I honestly don't know. I have a feeling I'm going to keep coming back to this topic until I come to a solution. If I come to one...
Enough of that. Here's some watercolor sketches.

As a D&D player, you encounter death a lot. Especially at low levels. We're currently level 1, and death is in every encounter. All but one person has dropped into the negatives, and three of us have stat damage. My bf's pally has fungus rot and it slowly dying unless we can cure her in time. It's pretty scary really. This maybe untrue of all players, but I get attached to my creation. I draw them, come up with stories, and give them something of a life of their own. When their hurt, or close to death, I worry.
There was recently a death among my family friends. Someone mother passed yesterday, and we went to an impromptu visitation in their home. I've seen dead bodies before, this is nothing new. I know more about what happens to dead body that the average person. It...was strange none the less. She was laying there, as if asleep. I was just waiting for her to cough and wake up. She was always coughing, and being in the house and not hearing it, was...strange. Someone I had been talking to less than a month ago. It's not so much a thing of remorse, but a thing of...realization. Thinking? I'm not sure.
What defines something as alive? There's the biological sense of it, but we can keep people who's hearts have failed, and people who's brains have kicked it 'alive'. When ever I think about someones passing, it's rarely about the passing it's self, but about what I remember about them alive. Despite I know they're physically dead, aren't the technically still alive? What about a child who doesn't understand the ramifications of death, who view them as simply gone away? Isn't all we are, beyond a lugging physical form, memories, and what we have derived from the? Even though someone is gone, their ideas, philosophy, and ideals continue via those who where near them in biological life. We as a consciousness are a compilation of memories and what we've derived from said memories, in addition to what has been set in us from those around us, who where a compilation...and so on.
So, dose someone die when their physical body ceases to function, or do they die when every memory of them no longer remembered?

My parents got me a copy of H.P. Lovecraft Goes to the Movies.
It's been fun reading it, even if I had read many of the stories previously. As I finish the stories, I'm taking advantage Nexflix and finding the movies. I just finished The Colour out of Space, and am watching the movie based off it, Die Monster, Die! as I type. May I simply say that the fastest way to kill a good, creeping horror story is to add a romance subplot. In the case it's more of a framing device, and while I haven't gotten far, I have a feeling it's also being used as way to get the audience's empathy. I'm not big into romance, I feel they take away from a story. In the original story, a man sent to aid in the building of a reservoir, upon seeing the blight no one dares talk about, and his human curiosity is what makes him want to learn more. And thus, the horrors are unveiled. It's simple, but it works. I feel like using a romance just...weakens it. It makes it more of a "Big, strong man, comes in to save the day, and save the poor little female", rather than a universal story. It becomes less about the daunting horror from beyond the stars, and more about if they make it out okay. Weaker story, weaker horror, and what little horror there is just relies on jump scares and dramatic music, as opposed to the slow daunting horror that builds with in the real tales of Lovecraft. I feel like this more of a continuation of the tale, rather than a rehashing, and there by wins big bonus points.Which...are instantly lost on account of the main, male protagonist being a blonde haired, New York accented American, come to visit his British (implied) girlfriend. And on the topic of her, she's so stereotypical, it hurts. There are sentient plants, mutated Muppet, and in the end RADIATION is what dun it.
I'm not asking for a perfect rehashing, but a slightly less....stereotyped story would be nice.
But, hey, it was the 60's.

Also: Thankskilling. Watch it. Now. Provided you're in the company of people who don't mind an evil turkey that swears a lot, and an opening with a half naked pilgrim.

It's weekly updates time once again!
I know I don't put up oodels of sketches anymore, but that's what tumblr's for! Yep, that's where most of my day to day quick sketches go.
Why have this blog too then?
Mostly for bigger things, talking about life in general. Someday I hope I'll only have a blogger, or *gasp* even my own website?! I think I need to learn about RSS feeds first. But for now, blogger and tumblr are going to tag team it up. Nothing new drawn lately, just plugging away at school projects, Speaking of which....
A watercolor project!
A squeal to Beatrix Potter's Tailor Mouse. Olive seems to have eaten most of him and shoved his head in a thimble. Gruesome, yes but it was fun! It's a new kind of paper, so I'm learning how to use it. It's not taking as much paint as other kinds of watercolor paper, it seems to be better for lighter washes, and a generally less heavy handed approach. The white speck is where the paper tore a bit.
Nothing new much life wise, just more and more school work. I was up rather late last night, so for the first time ever I'm drinking coffee. It's very flavored, so it tastes more like a bitter warm pumpkin drink, and it's waking me up, which is what I needed anyway. Despite it, I don't think this is going to really be a habit for me, too expensive. I'll live with just water! (I forgot my water-bottle today, I feel naked...)
Have a good Monday, stay warm all!
